AI Graph Analysis (Premium only)

This page lists example prompts grouped by use case that can be used by the SmartChart Assistant. Copy them directly or adapt them for your own devices. Device names in these examples should be replaced with the names shown in your ConstantGraph account.

Energy monitoring

  • "Show me my daily energy usage for the last 30 days"
  • "Which devices used the most energy this month? Show as a pie chart"
  • "How much did my boiler use last week compared to the previous seven days?"
  • "Show me a weekly energy summary for the last three months"
  • "Top 5 energy consumers today as a bar chart with an aggregation toggle"

Energy charts use a daily or weekly aggregation by default. The AI displays consumption as the change per period — the amount actually used — rather than the raw meter total which only ever increases.

Power and load profiles

  • "Show me the power usage in the kitchen over the last 24 hours"
  • "Display my whole-home power usage today as a spline chart"
  • "Compare my heating and hot water power over the last week"

Power charts show the instantaneous rate of consumption over time. These are useful for spotting peaks, understanding when appliances are running, and identifying devices that draw more power than expected.

Temperature and climate

  • "Show me temperature and humidity in the living room for the last 7 days"
  • "What is the current temperature in every room?"
  • "Display all my temperature sensors as a device list"
  • "Show bedroom CO2 levels for the past three days with a historical range band"

Device activity

  • "How many hours was the washing machine on each day this week?"
  • "Show me how often the front door sensor triggered in the last 7 days"
  • "Display all my on/off devices in a device list"

Activity charts use "hours on" aggregation for switches and binary sensors. This converts a simple on/off signal into hours of active time per day, which is a useful way to track heating schedules, lighting habits, and appliance usage.

Smart home dashboards

  • "Create an Instant Data gauge showing the current temperature and humidity"
  • "Show all my battery-powered devices in a device list"
  • "Give me a status overview of all my smart plugs"
  • "Show me a gauge of the current whole-home power draw"

Energy disaggregation (NILM)

If your ConstantGraph account includes Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring, the AI can chart estimated per-appliance energy figures even without a dedicated smart plug on each device.

  • "Show me estimated dishwasher energy usage this week"
  • "Compare estimated washing machine and tumble dryer usage"

The AI will note when it is using estimated disaggregation data so you understand the source. These channels are estimated from whole-home energy analysis and are not metered directly.

Troubleshooting with the AI

The AI can also help when something looks wrong with a graph.

  • "Why is there no data showing?"
  • "The last reading seems too old — is the device offline?"
  • "The chart is showing huge numbers — what does that mean?"

The AI reads the current graph state and can identify common issues such as stale readings, missing data for the selected time period, or channels that may need a different aggregation setting.
